TE MANA O TE MAUNGA

Ngāti Ruanui Holdings Limited is honoured to welcome the sons of revered Nepalese Sherpa Tenzing Norgay. Norbu Tenzing and Dhamey Tenzing Norgay will host a one-off presentation at Taiporohēnui Marae, Ohangai Road, Hawera on Thursday January 31, 2019, 12.30pm to 3pm. Tenzing Norgay Sherpa was one of the first two people to summit Chomolungma- the Maunga known as Everest- in 1953,  with well-known New Zealand climber Sir Edmund Hilary. The brothers will talk about sustainable ethical tourism. They share an interest and life-long devotion to improving conditions and training for Nepalese/Tibetan Sherpa. The visit is part of an Aotearoa-wide tour focused on sharing knowledge between indigenous cultures mutually interested in ethical tourism.
