Te Puawaitanga o Ngāti Ruanui Early Childhood Centre

ECE Teacher - Permanent, Full-time

Hours vary between Monday and Friday: 6am to 3pm.

Te Puawaitanga o Ngāti Ruanui Early Childhood Education Centre (ECE) based in Hāwera, South Taranaki, is seeking an Early Childhood qualified, experienced, and effective teacher to join their dedicated team to provide endless intentional learning experiences for our tamariki and their whānau. 

We are seeking a team member who brings a warm, positive energy and a genuine commitment to providing high-quality education and care for our precious tamariki. The ideal candidate will be passionate about early childhood education and committed to building respectful, meaningful relationships with whānau and tamariki.

Holding a Level 7 ECE qualification with current certification and/or a third year in training is essential, along with sound knowledge and experience in planning, assessment and leading a quality programme.  The ideal candidate will be a reliable, passionate professional with proven organisational and time-management skills. 

Our ECE aims to foster the joy of an inquiring mind, and support learning and development with respectful relationships and appropriate intentional teaching strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring tamariki are experiencing positive communication, interactions and intentional learning experiences while at the Centre.

  • Complying with all Ministry of Education standards and regulations.

  • Representing Te Puawaitanga ECE in a positive manner within the community.

  • Ensuring all tamariki are kept safe from harm.

  • Acting as an advocate for tamariki within the Centre whanau.

  • Educating tamariki using the Te Whariki Early Childhood curriculum.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a sound understanding of tikanga Māori and Te Reo, with the ability and confidence to speak basic Reo.

  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in Te Whariki, Group Curriculum Design, assessment and planning.

  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate.

  • Be committed to a whanau first approach.

  • Be passionate and encouraging about our ngā tamariki development and learning.

  • Value respectful relationships with whānau, tamariki and Kaiako.
